remember when dressing up was a delight? and your mother’s shoes could transform you into a princess? i still love any excuse to dress up, it’s one of my favorite past times…sadly, i never seen to do it enough…life gets in the way of day dreams…thank goodness for weddings, a day when dressing up is celebrated…and you get to where your pretty dress all day long….i say, pull out your high heels and a completely inappropriate dress, maybe even your wedding dress & make some pancakes this weekend….why not? if your husband doesn’t understand, your children certainly will….xoxo
dress up & down….and someone please pass the syrup….
A Destination Wedding….. just the words “destination wedding” sounds special…. exotic…. romantic…. the truth is, just about every wedding is a destination wedding…..chances are, someone had to travel to get there….but more importantly, anyone can have a destination wedding, even in your own backyard….think of your wedding as an experience from beginning to end…..and anticipate your guests’ needs in addition to your own….having cocktails the night before you exchange vows & brunch the morning after, can make your local wedding have a “destination” feel….food, lighting & sounds can all contribute to the overall experience for you & your guests….want to have a french wedding at home? give your guests little bundles of french lavender….serve french food with edith piaf playing softly during dinner….have your officiant say a blessing in french…..travel the world in the comfort of your home…..
no matter where you are….a destination a million miles away or at home…remember the most important thing is the man standing next to you & your friends & family celebrating with you…xoxo
formal portraits on your wedding day are such an important aspect of your day…..as much as i love getting ready images & details….there is something so profound about the legacy of family coming together in joy & celebration….i think of group shots as family heirlooms….they become more special & valuable with time….there are a couple of things to consider when planning your group photos…what is the best time for formal photos?? there really is no right answer, just what is right for you….doing them before the ceremony has some advantages….it frees up your time after the ceremony, which can be nice if you want to enjoy your cocktail party….this may not be the best plan though, if you are a true romantic….seeing your groom & his family before the ceremony may be great for photos but does not work for some couples who want to see each other for the first time at their ceremony….there are a couple of alternatives….you can do all the formal portraits after the ceremony….which maintains the magic of the first glimpse of each other at the ceremony….but often means missing some or all of your cocktail party….or you can do some formals before the ceremony separately & then again together after the ceremony together….which is a good solution, but will demand more time from you & your families…or i also like to plan a special moment where the bride & groom can see each other before the ceremony, alone….it maintains some of the magic & importance of the first moment of seeing each other and then also enables the groups shots to be done before the ceremony….whatever you decide, make sure you communicate you desires both with your photographer & your families….good communication makes for beautiful photographs…..happy wedding….xoxo
there is nothing quite as wonderful as a girl’s best friend….the one who gets all your jokes
& holds your hand when mr. not so right hurts your feelings….and the one who jumps up
and down when the love of your life proposes….whether you are shoe shopping or sipping
tea…or belly laughing over nothing at all….friendship is an indescribable gift….give
your best friend a call today & tell her how much she means to you….
as you grow…so does the texture of your friendship….we all experience
growing pains from time to time…at the end of the day…. a true friend is simply
an extension of your family…and no matter what, that is what really matters….

“Women come to visit my atelier in search of satisfying a desired emotional state that has entered into their system at one time or another. One can strive to have a feeling even though they haven’t yet seen the object that will match that emotional state and make it come alive. Our minds and our senses are very powerful and I believe my creations serve to realize many sensual (visual, touch, sound, of compliments and praise) pleasures and fill the space between dream and reality. In a sense for a bride, the ceremony moment is a moment of vulnerability and if veiled, she is looking out on the world though a floating shield theoretically protecting her.
A Leah C. veil is made with the finest veiling once woven in France and extremely rare now. These fine sheaths of wide net material play many roles as discussed above but for me predominantly they enhance one’s natural beauty.
I hope my veils bring together that vision of when we think about presenting ourselves in the most beautiful light possible with the reality of that emotional state we strive for of feeling our most radiant and desirable.”
women are just beautiful…and veils & headpieces are just another way to express personal style….and really embrace dressing up, especially on your wedding day…bless the veil & the bride beneath it…
i love flowers….all types of flowers….my favorites right now are peonies, they are so generous and sumptuous….oh, and lavender….there is something so wonderful about lavender….its so polite & petit, yet grows wildly all over my garden….and the smell is heavenly….my favorite flower will change from time to time, depending on my mood & the season….but no matter what i love flowers, they make me happy….what is your favorite flower and why?
Some beauty is sublime….it transcends words….Shahara has just such a beauty….she is graceful and laughs easily…as though her heart dictates her movements….this must be one of the reasons she caught the eye and heart of NBA star Elton Brand….their courtship started long ago & continues strong today….they exchanged wedding vows at the divine Biltmore Estate in North Carolina….their wedding & all the details were beautifully executed by Lisa Vorce of Oh, How Charming…..Shahara wore a beautiful Monique Lhuillier dress that seemed to be made just for her body…Elton wore a gorgeous smile all day long…..the two committed theirlives to each other under the warm southern sky….and recently welcomed their first child into the world….just as beauty can be sublime, so can love…and their love is simply sublime….20,000 kisses later and counting…..
kiss & tell
“Our first kiss was 10 years ago…over an estimated 20,000 kisses ago… “good morning”, “good night”, “see ya later”, “honey, you’re home!”, “I love you”, “thank you honey”, “you’re so sweet”…you name it, we kissed it. Some may say the quality of a kiss is better than the quantity. I would normally agree, but fortunately I don’t have to make that distinction with the kisses from my love. Each was more delicious than the last. Even with the less exciting “I’m sorry, honey” and the “it’s ok” kisses, I felt love rooted in each one. This is one of the defining things about our relationship, and that which I will look forward to in the next 10 years, and in 50 years when we will perhaps mark our 1,020,000th kiss.”
