i am only half joking….

i was photographing a friend the other day…a good friend…the kind of friend who insists on paying me for my work, but who i refuse to except money from….this type of friend is rare & i can count on one hand the number of friends that fit into that category….in any case, after an afternoon of photographs she gave me this beautiful pair of manolo blahnik patent leather nude & white mary janes…that’s right SHOES…beautiful shoes….i blushed…i couldn’t accept…she insisted….and now miraculously they sit in my home, smiling at me every time i walk by…& i had i thought as i gazed at these beauties….i will “work for shoes”….some days exchanging money for photographs takes the air out of my sails…i know i know…i have three children…a mortgage…and so on….this is my job…my career & how i support my family…it’s just that money visits my bank account & always has to leave unexpectedly…some bill or commitment lures my hard earned dollars away…but shoes…shoes linger…they wait patiently in my closet until i take them on a little outing…they make me happy, even on the most uneventful of days….so i am thinking from time to time i will work for shoes…for my sanity…& becasue, well…they are SHOES….so mr. louboutin if you are listening, give me a call…

i am dancing as fast as i can….

so…the dance of life continues….sometimes it feels like (at best) i am working with two left feet…then there are moments of grace…fluidity…and then it’s gone….creativity is elusive….it comes in fleeting moments like an afternoon breeze, then stillness….i find sometimes it is in the in between time, i am somehow most productive….as if the act of trying to be creative is in fact uncreative….that instead it is being in what ever moment is in your midst, that leads to the unknown kingdom of all things creative…so today  (against all odds) i intend to enjoy my two left feet & see what happens…xoxo
