pinecone

have you ever felt like you had the whole world in your hands?? has a pinecone ever been your magic wand?? there is nothing quite as wonderful as a child’s imagination…the wonder of a cardboard box when you are three years old….its a house, a castle, a spaceship….such a simple pleasure…when exactly does a cardboard box become just a cardboard box??

mmmm, who dosen’t love a spa? massage…facial…relaxing…healthy food….be sure to inquire about packages & half days….you can often get a great deal on several treatments….and spend as long as you like relaxing by the pool…most packages also include a spa lunch….if you are planning your wedding, there is nothing better than taking a day off to be good to yourself & simply relax…and if you are pregnant, be sure to inquire about what’s available for expectant mother’s….and ladies, what ever stage of life you are in….if you are a working mother, single or just in need of some down time….check out your local spa & see what services are available…you won’t be sorry you did….

liara-antonio_sb

Although Liara & Antonio McDyess had a beautiful wedding with friends and family in Cuixmala, what many people don’t know is they also had a lovely private ceremony in Santa Barbara at the simply stunning San Ysidro Ranch….celebrating in private can be just as elegant & special as a big wedding with all of your friends & family….Lisa Vorce of Oh, How Charming! produced both the Cuixmala celebration & their private wedding….Liara is one of the most wonderful and warm people ever…and her and Antonio share such an obvious love & affection…if you are planning on eloping or want to have a private ceremony….do it in style just like Liara & Antonio….

nostalgia018-21

My grandparents, Anthony & Antoinette Messina were married on July 4, 1940….Antoinette lived across the street from the church they were married in….Her father (my great-grandfather) rolled a long red carpet from the front door of their home to the steps of the church….so she could walk across the street to marry her groom….They were married for 60 years….I will never forget the loveliest advice she gave me….From the time i was a young girl, she would tell me “your grandfather & i always kiss goodnight”, she would smile as she went on”sometimes between clenched teeth, but we always kiss, no matter what…and that is the secret to our happiness”…i have never forgotten her words & love the simple sweetness of her advice….especially in the evenings, when i kiss my husband goodnight….

my first kiss…..

i was twelve years old….at summer camp….church camp to be exact….he had brown tousled hair and was just as shy as i was….it was the last night before going home…after dinner, he asked if i wanted to go and see the horses….we must have sat there for three hours….next to the horse stables….not saying a single word…..at one point his hand grazed mine and i flinched…..as curfew approached we stood up to walk back towards the dorms…. he paused briefly….and then suddenly leaned in and kissed me on the cheek….and then just as suddenly he was gone….he took off running….as i watched him get smaller, i held  my cheek….he kissed me…..i knew something very special had happened….that i was somehow different…..he kissed me…”

“My favorite thing about kissing Adam is when he cups my  head in his hands…..At this moment, I feel weightless and  get lost in our sweet little kisses.”

-Nicole Hill (Gerulat)

Nicole and Adam were married recently in Utah. All the  details of their day were just beautiful, from portraits in an apple orchard to a cozy reception at Sundance. All the elements were warm & had the couple’s personal touch…Nicole is an amazing  photographer….you can check out some of her work on her  adorable blog  www.alittlesussy.com

inlove

so you are engaged….congratulations!!!!

he asked (or you asked)…any the answer was yes….YES!!! while you are basking in your lovely happiness…consider having engagement photos taken…. everyone knows how important & special your wedding day photos will be…but there is also something so unique & wonderful about the time after you’ve gotten engaged & before you say i do….engagement portraits can capture a more day to day side of you, a little more casual, a little more playful…photographs you will cherish….

so smile & kiss the love of your life…xoxo

pregnancy

whether you are barefoot or in the perfect pair of high heels, pregnancy is one of the most life changing experiences a woman will go through in her life…..it is so important to embrace your ever evolving body and pay attention to every minute…because although it may seem like you are pregnant forever, it is really  not that long….and there is something so sweet, so peaceful about the little bundle inside you….so eat, sleep and treasure the days of random cravings, restless evenings trying to get comfortable and endless trips to the restroom….believe it or not, you’ll miss it…well parts of it anyway….so rub your belly & count your blessings….or better yet, take a nap….as they say, if mama’s happy….everyone’s happy…..
